As far as Himalaya products go I don't usually bother reading the ingredients because I know it is going to be full of ayurvedic goodness that is gentle on the skin. My whole test of the Himalaya Purifying Neem Pack was to check its efficacy. Living in Bombay makes my usually dry skin oily and sticky so I regularly look at deep cleansing that provides instant relief.
Step 1: Apply Just like any other pack your skin should be clean before application, however, a lazy me had taken a shower a couple of hours ago so decided to just slather on the pack. The Verdict: This pack went on very smoothly as it was thick but easy to spread. I usually like my packs to be thick because I feel they work better. I personally don't mind strong smells in my products but if you do then be warned that this does have a strong herbal smell that wears off quickly once you apply it but like I said could bother some people.
Step 2: Relax This is not just for mental peace but also for proper working of the pack so it can dry evenly and also not stretch your skin in the wrong places. The Verdict: This pack tingles! In fact it is a slight burning sensation, however, I have noticed that with a lot of neem, clove and T tree oil based products on my skin. This sensation lasts only a couple of minutes.
Step 3: Check I am not one of those people who can stay still so in about 7 minutes I start to get impatient and although they recommend 10 minutes I personally like to keep my mask on for as long as it takes to dry properly on my T zone that is oily. The Verdict: In about 15 minutes I was ready to wash it off. The pack dries pretty evenly and will cause your skin to feel tight and stretched if you leave it longer.
Step 4: Remove While most people simply wash off their masks I find it far gentler to first remove it with a damp cotton or sponge and then wash it. The Verdict: The Himalaya Neem Purifying Pack comes off with a little bit of work, it may also be because I applied it thick. With the sponge method though I could get it off easily. It also has these little bits of neem leaves that bring about a little scrubbing action when you wash it off.
Step 5: Look in the mirror I can't stop analysing my skin post a face pack as I'm sure a lot of you do too. The Verdict: Perfectly fresh looking skin minus the extra oil layer that makes you look dull. I was afraid that this pack will make my skin dry but was happy to note that it just sort of normalised it.
Overall Verdict: A simple cost-effective mask that does what it says - deep cleansing without drying to reveal fresher looking skin. Will this be my summer go-to? Absolutely. Will I use it in the winters? Maybe not. But I can totally see myself use this on my back as well for some instang glow.
