Summer layering is all about intelligent mixing and creative combinations. Pair your favourite dress with ripped denims and lace-up sandals for a casual summer lunch. You can also try to mix and match a longer-length tunic over a maxi skirt, which creates a billowy shape that feels really fresh right now. My favourite trick is to add a soft jersey tee under a strapless or sleeveless dress for that added punch.
The best way to layer during summers is by replacing your thick blazers and jackets with breezy fabrics like linen, cheesecloth and organic cotton. Opt for layers in a loose, draped fit. So look for culottes, palazzos and anti-fit cape jackets for a stylish and breezy style for summer.
Repurpose some of your closet favourites. Your chambray shirt becomes your go-to denim jacket. Don’t put limitations on the items in your closet. A dress can easily convert to a top; a lightweight trench can easily morph into a dress. Just like many things in life, our clothing has more to offer then we usually give it credit for.
If it’s too hot to handle layers of clothes, then layer your outfit with funky accessories. Wear a plain dress with a bold colour belt and statement necklace and bracelets. Finish the look with simple earrings and a cross-body purse.
Alternatively, stack up those statement cuffs and bracelets with a cool blue dress and tan sandals.
Another easy way to layer during a hot summer night is put items together of the same colour. If you’re looking for a sophisticated monochrome look, go for all whites. For those who love colours, opt for fresh citrusy hues that pair perfectly with pastel jackets.
