The third day of Lakme Fashion Week made me realise that couture fashion was no longer limited the ramps or photo shoots. Made me wonder whether the modern girl was welcoming high fashion in her daily life or were the designers creating attainable/wearable fashion for them. Today, couture fashion caters to all of us who can afford them. Subtle shades, comfortable silhouettes and some glitter and glam for the night, the third day of LFW showcased everything I would add to my 'Lust List.'
People enjoyed their drinks in the intermediary period. The Kingfisher Lounge was booked for the post show party to celebrate Siddartha Tytler's success. I spotted Suchitra Pillai and Bandana Tewari in her classic aviator shades and a gorgeous studded bag. Rohit Bal was a part of the audience all day long and cheered and supported all his contemporaries, there was a clear camaraderie amongst the designers. Then came Anita Dongre's 'Timeless' collection. Her show, unlike many other designers wasn't a sponsored one but in fact, was lending support to an NGO. Her designs were versatile, could be worn for an engagement and to a party alike. With melodious Bollywood music in the background, the crowd was swaying away to the romantic designs.
A quick dinner later, the crowd was gearing up for the finale for the day – Shantanu and Nikhil. Queues for the entry started long before the show. It was nice to see singers Salim-Sulaiman interested in fashion. Their collection was a perfect wear to a party or a hot first date. Lesson learnt on Day 3: white, gold, pink and sequins are here to stay all season.
