When it comes to doing up your house, think outside the box and inside your closet. These are some quick tips ‘fashionise’ your home.
#1 Display your favourite pieces
As a blogger I often invest in those one-off statement pieces that everyone remembers. Which means I wear them very few times. Don’t shy away from displaying your bold pieces as part of your home decor. They stand out and add a personal touch to your space.
#2 Conversation starters
Show off the gems you’ve sourced from all your travels. I like to tie up and display a mix of vintage scarves or flea market jewellery that I’ve inherited and collected from the different places I’ve travelled. I find the mix of colours, fabrics and scents especially inspiring and evocative of good times.
#3 Create more closet space
Incorporating fashion as decor is a handy way of expanding your closet space. I often keep my bag of the week in my library or hang my favourite bags on doorknobs just so I can enjoy them all the time. You can also add your favourite heels in between your decorative props or add some quirk with an embellished sneaker.
To most conservatives, fashion and decor may feel like two completely different worlds, but in reality they are quite complementary. If your accessories like jewellery, hats and bags can embellish an outfit they can also add a touch of colour to a coffee table or console.
#5 Create your own wall art
Comb through some of your favourites in your closet. Choose from dresses, shoes, jewellery and scarves. Just like in your outfits, artfully blend textures and hues. I love this whimsical dress and decided to pair it with these colourful wall hanging in my living area. The colours and textures paired together seem like the perfect artwork for a fashionista.
