In the First Row

You guys will be happy to know that we're having great fun collaborating with Radhika from Firstrow.in as the official stylists for one entire week! You can log on here and email us at info@firstrow.in  for any fashion related question/s and we will be happy to answer them in detail for you.
On the aside, we had a meeting that required us to dress formally so this is what we wore.

Sonu wore her new Vero Moda blazer with white denims
Cropped blazer, C/O Vero Moda| jeans, Bangkok| blouse, Fashion Street| bag, Hues| wedges, Bandra| tassel necklaces, Oman
- Sonu's blazer obsession continues. She has worn cropped blazers in the past here as part of a semi-formal meeting and here with a grandma dress.
- Blazers are always appropriate for formal events but instead of wearing the classic blazer you can opt for boyfriend styles or the try the cropped style that Sonu is pulling off with a tunic instead.
- On days when you don't know what to wear for work, a simple blazer worn over the plainest pants and top can make your entire look work.
- A cropped blazer is a good option for the summers. They are light weight and still formal.
- If you want to keep your office clothes simple then have fun and add colour with your accessories.
Jasleen wore the shirt and trouser look with a twist
Shirt, Fashion Street| Pants, Mango| Pearls, Curio Cottage and Forever 21| bag, From the Rabbit Hole| shoes, Bangkok| flower hair scrunchy, Vitamin K & Taxxi
- Trousers and shirts are classic office wear but instead of opting for black trousers and a shirt combination, Jasleen gave her own twist with dark high waist trousers and baby pink kitten heel pumps.
- She also took the unusual way with jewellery by pairing gold and pearl necklaces together to add a slight bring and glamour to the usually 'boring' formal attire.
- To dress for work you can also look at pants in powder pinks and shades of grey and cream instead of wearing black. Ruffled tops, Feminine bows in silk tops, fun printed blouses can be some of the variations you can try even in a formal environment.

Summer iced tea

A meeting at Shivaji Park's Barista in the middle of a hot, humid summer got us to the sea for a little wind and breeze. While Jasleen is finding it hard to deal with the heat, Sonu is seeming to take the summers well into her stride.
Jasleen wore a cotton summer dress
Dress, Ritu Kumar Label (also worn here)| Oxfords & watch, Bangkok| bag, Forever 21|

  •  Sometimes you just can't rely on layers or accessories for a look, at times like these wear funky shoes, add a pop of colour and be ready to wear the look.
  • You must own a summer dress for yourself and even though it feels more like day wear, it can be dressed up for the evenings. See how Jasleen wore her yellow summer dress, here.
  • Summer dresses are not necessarily short, you can look at long dresses, ankle length dresses and calf lengths as a choice too.
  • Combine with wedges, thong slippers for the night and chunky platform heels are a good choice for the night.
Sonu wore a mint green beach shirt with jeans
Shirt, Fashion Street| jeans, GAP| flats, Bandra| bag, Dharavi| bracelet, DIY| rings Curio Cottage
  • Colours play a key during summers and minty greens, sunflower yellows, aqua blues, corals, peaches make a great summer palettes.
  • Sonu carried a red blazer for the meeting to make her minty green pop - you can also play with unusual colours. The over sized shirt makes a great wrap for your bikinis in Goa and can be worn with a belt and blazer over jeggings and heels for a high tea look.
  • An over sized shirt is very versatile and you must own a couple in solids and prints to use through the year.
  • While florals are the obvious choice in summers, try nauticals, polka dots, diagonal or horizontal stripes and even delicate paisley prints and animal prints for the summer.

The Tribal Necklace

We picked up this beaded necklace at the recent Kala Ghoda Fest and decided to showcase two different looks with it.

Sonu wore her necklace with a denim dress and a wrap
Dress & wrap, Promod| necklace, Kala Ghoda Festival| bag, Dharavi| brogues, Bandra| watch, Guess| kadas, moms| lipstick, Chambor

- Denim dresses are a must in every wardrobe not only because they never go out of style but also because they are simply easy to work with - you can make them as dressy or as casual as you want.
- Sonu opted for a pop of red with her lips and the statement neckpiece. You could do the same thing with a statement bag, lots of chunky bracelets, an OTT headgear or even really cool shoes.

Jasleen wore a tribal necklace with polka dotted skirt and tunic
Tunic, Forever 21| skirt, Colaba Causeway| pumps, gifted by mom-in-law| sleeves, Fashion Street| necklace, Kala Ghoda Festival
- Mixing prints is a fun experiment. Jasleen wore a bubble skirt with a polka-dotted tunic. The paint-spalsh sleeves add the contrast.
- You don't have to wear statement neck pieces with solids or plain colours, you can mix them with similar or contrasting prints and colours.
- To this look you can add gladiators or kolhapuris for a dress down, a sequin jacket and high-heel pumps (as seen in the picture) for an evening look.

Turn around and switch

Who isn't lazy about changing her bags? It is so annoying to keep transferring things from one bag to another not to mention how something important like your house keys or lip balm tend to get left behind. Thankfully someone was listening and the newest thing in town is the Switcher. Created by Riddhi D, the Swticher is made in a light-weight polyester and nylon fabric and available in a range of colours. It has ample space for your mobile phone, stationary, make-up kit, house/car keys, sunglasses, perfume bottle, your whole world.

The next time you want to change switch bags you just use Switcher! We've been using it for a while before we thought of recommending it to you guys. And except for your regular size clutch you can use it in most shoulder bags. We would think a choice in a smaller size would be good too although we find this just right because of all the things we carry on a day to day basis. Apart from being so useful, these Switchers can be customised according to your need. Choose your your colour, more or less pockets, different fabrics and different designs.

Price: Rs 399/-

See how we wore asymmetrical ensembles in the past here.

After a long day of meetings and discussions we attended the curtain raiser of the Luxury Awards by Vyu Technologies and the Luxury Society at The Tote. Summer calls for two of our favourite picks: shorts and any shade of orange. You will surely see us wearing these two trends in the our future posts.

Short facts:
-- Shorts can be your ideal companion for a movie, a picnic or a brunch.
-- Use your shorts to layer and add length under short dresses, tunics or over-sized shirts.
-- Wearing shorts to an event could be a little difficult and tacky if not worn correctly. So be wary of the trend for a formal event.

Orange-y notes:

-- Coral, burnt red and bright orange shades look great on all skin tones.
-- Orange is a vibrant color, pair it with a neutral color the balance it.
-- For those of you who prefer muted colours, use pops of the shade by adding a pair of bright orange stilettos or a citrus-coloured purse.
