Jewel thieves

Our friend Santosh from Aquamarine was generous enough to let us borrow jewellery for our shoot. Shot by Arjun Chipalkatti, we had a great day shooting in and around Ballard Estate. We did draw a lot of curious (and pervert) glances, but went with it anyway. Write in to know if you like our jewellery special.

Sonu wore her red velvet skirt as a tube dress with an overcoat
Jasleen wore a tube maxi dress with mojris and a Nidhi Karnavat Chopra bag

The Tease

We are preparing the post a special jewellery photoshoot for you guys. For now, see more of the casual us. Jasleen dressed casually for the shoot day, while Sonu tweaked the same outfit she was wearing for the photoshoot.

Jasleen wore a Monisha Pratap-Shah tunic with pink wedges from Pavers England
Tunic, courtesy Monish Pratap-Shah| bag, courtesy Nidhi Karnavat Chopra for Pop Goes the Art| shoes, courtesy Pavers England| knee-length shorts, Colaba Causeway

Monisha  Pratap-Shah is a journalist and fashion designer who makes very wearable clothes for the real women. What we love is the very rich fabrics she uses like extremely thin and soft cotton with rich hand-painted silk. She also custmoises clothes and you can contact her on monipra89@gmail.com.

The shoes Jasleen is wearing are courtesy Pavers England and these pair of powder pink/ nude wedges are really comfortable, everywhere wear shoes. We like that Pavers England is a chic brand with unique designs. Also, the quality when you see them upclose is great. There's one store opening at the Palaldium shortly, you can check it out there.

Sonu wore the shoot outfit with a twist to make it everyday wear

The assignment

We were on a personal shopping assignment for a client getting ready for her daughter's wedding. While out at the Palladium among other places for shopping we stopped at TGIF for a quick lunch. We thoroughly enjoyed our Chicken Veracruz served with rice and chicken sausages. The peach iced tea is also to die for.

Although we couldn't take complete ensemble pictures, due to technological reasons (battery ran out), we thought we'll share some pictures of the day and tips/reasons for choosing our outfits.

Sonu wore a shirt dress as a cape with jeggings
Shirt dress worn as a cape, Hues| jeggings, Only| wedges, Charles & Keith| belt, Aldo| tote, Sambeena, coin ring (gold-plated, remember this)| charm bracelet, Curio Cottage
  • Sonu wore her floor length shirt dress as a cape. A long cape can make quite a statement by itself.
  • Wear it to accessorise your plain pants and top combination.
  • Add a brooch or links or simply a big cuff to accessorise your ensemble.
  • While buying a cape make sure the material is suitable for where you live. In a weather like bombay cotton, hokoba may be your best bet. Fabrics like silk, satin, brocade make great evening wear for your Indo-western clothes.
Jasleen strutted her new denim shirt and jeggings
Jeggings, Only| grey jersey top, Chemistry| denim shirt worn as jacket, Zara| bag, Forever 21| tribal bracelet, Kala Ghoda street shopping| shoes, courtesy Pavers England
  • A denim shirt is just as basic in your wardrobe as an LBD or a white shirt. You can do so much with it.
  • Wear it with a floral skirt and lots of badges and ballerinas for a cute look.
  • Wear it over a dress with Brogues and links for a vintage look.
  • Although I don't really dig the denim on denim combo, I think if worn well with nice jeans and a jacket to break the monotony, it could look so old-school and pretty.

In Graphiti

The Telegraph's magazine Graphiti did a very interesting article on fashion blogging and we were a part of it. Arundhati Basu's piece talks about the blogging industry and it's future. We really enjoyed shooting for the magazine. Take a look at the article here.
Here are some of the pictures from that day clicked by Gajanan Dudhalkar.

Let's go to the mall!

Our weekly meeting led us to Phoenix Mills yet again and this is how we showed up there.

Jasleen wore her red-pink pants with a long T-shirt
Pants, Zara| top, Only| cuff, Mango| rubber-strap watch, Malaysia| leather sandals, Colaba Causeway
    * These slightly grunge, harem pants are usually worn with a tank top (for skinny people only!).
    * Jasleen wore this with a long tee to create a loose, comfortable silhouette.
    * The quilted bag added the chic to the casual attire.
    * You can also turn these casual pants into stylish by pairing it with high heels and a blazer or a shirt.

Sonu wore a long dress with a cropped jacket
Dress, mom's| cropped blazer, Zara| brogues, Aldo| backpack, Oberoi Shopping Mall| ring, Amrapali

    * Sonu's look was inspired by Julie Delpy in Two Days in Paris with her vintage backpack and her brogues.
    * The long matronly dress is a gorgeous piece from her mom's closet and Sonu wore it to suit her age and style.
    * The cropped jacket adds the right amount of chic, while the shoes give it the global edge.
    * A long dress like this should be paired with a jacket or a vest to cut down the boring feel that a long dresses could have.

Two different locations

Sonu had a long day at work while Jasleen relaxed as she worked from home. Sonu wore a basic black top with jeggings, while Jasleen decided to showcase the look she wore on Saturday at the Comedy Store in Palladium.

Sonu wore an oversized tee with pearl details and her Mary Janes

Top, vintage| jeggings, H&M| mary janes, Marks & Spencer| bag, borrowed from my friend Preeti Gupta| ring, Aquamarine| bracelets, Curio Cottage.
  • Sonu's look worked great for the office and since the rains make you morose, the vintage-y feel of black and pearls was perfect.
  • She added glam with her shoes and studded bag.
Jasleen wore pleated powder pink-pants with an off-shoulder tee

  • Pleated pants look great on almost anyone, just add height with heels if you're short. It creates a good hourglass shape for most part.
  • If this same look is worn with high heels and a clutch bag it will work for a night out too.
  • For the night Jasleen also wore statement earrings from Aquamarine which we will feature later.

Coming full circle

We were styling an elaborate photoshoot for Stylespeak Magazine, in the same location with the same model. Remember this shoot. Here's what we wore for the whole day shoot.

Clicked by Arjun Chipalkatti

Jasleen wore her jumpsuit with a linen blazer
Jumpsuit and 2-in-1duffle bag, Zara| linen jacket, United Colors of Bennetton| shoes, Colaba Causeway

•    Jumpsuits have been doing the rounds for a while. They come in all sorts of silhouettes so you can pick yours according to your body type.
•    While the snug ones are great for thinner bodies, the one Jasleen is wearing is appropriate for the apple shape.
•    Stay away from jersey materials or cling jumpsuits, instead wear lighter materials that flow well.
•    There are multiple ways of wearing a jumpsuit. Combine it with a blazer as seen here or wear it with a fancy belt and high heels for an evening party as seen here.
•    You can team it with a tee on top too. Wear it with a big bag for a casual day event and combine it with a clutch for the evenings.
•    If you are worried about problem areas showing then stick to small prints since they help in hiding them.
Sonu wore jeggings with a waistcoat

Kurta, Colabla Causeway| jeggings, Only| waistcoat, Cotton On| ballerinas, Charles & Keith| bag, Aldo| coin ring, Amrapali| pendants, Curio Cottage & Sangam Jewellery

•    Your classic white kurta does not have to be worn with kolhapuris and jhumkas, instead prep them up with a waistcoat and fancy shoes to give it a chic look. Sonu has also worn this kurta with a wrap like this.
•   The white kurta can be combined with a shrug, a wrap or a just a nice statement necklace. Add a pop of colour with high heels or an oversized clutch.
•    Also try adding a twist to your kurta by using it like a blouse, seen here.
•    Don't wear very long kurtas if you're not too tall.

JSo Original in Mumbai Boss

Our JSo scarves are making news around the city. They were featured in Mumbai Boss, a website that "  makes sense of the city."   Do check it out.

An early morning meeting

Mornings are just not our cup of tea and when we had to travel over an hour for a 10:00 am meeting, it made us very very sad. We decided on something comfortable and semi-formal for the occasion.

Sonu wore a silver grey shirt with hot orange wedges

Shirt, Forever New| jeans, vintage| wedges, Charles & Keith| bag, Aldo| links, Curio Cottage| brooch, Silver Plaza

  • This shirt can replace your 'basic white shirt'. It has fine shimmer lines and the colour makes it perfect to be worn and mixed with any colour.
It can be worn casually on a pair of shorts and is perfect to pair with a bright spaghetti.
A shirt like this in a soft fabric can be tucked in, knotted, layered and paired with many necklaces
  • The wedges certainly add a pop of colour and attitude, Sonu's new buy from Charles & Keith
The wedges are one of those classic statement buys that can instantly lift an outfit and the style of the shoe can be worn with dresses and pants both
Jasleen threw on her blazer again to make her casual linen dress a tad formal

Dress, AND| boyfriend blazer, Zara| gladiators, Charles & Keith| bag, Crawford market

  • The linen dress was a gift from my mum and not something I liked very much. But the more I wear
  • it, I realise its versatility. I have worn this dress for a birthday party with black heels and a clutch - just very basic and predictable.
  • The colour too is muted and yet lively.
  • You can also pair a dress like this with a long wrap, an open shirt or a printed scarf.
  • Since the dress is plain, I can also add any loud accessory in the form of a bag or cuffs.
