This is Part 1 of our three part series on fashion and pop art to celebrate Fashion Bombay's 100 posts.
In keeping with our appreciation for the fashionable arts, we joined hands with the uber chic and extremely talented Nidhi Karnavat Chopra. We love Nidhi's pop art pieces in cushion covers, wall clocks, totes and laptop bags. Replete with references from the Maharaja era, the Taj Mahal and Mumbai's cutting chai, she has it right on target. To know more about her work and where you can find her, log on to http://www.popgoestheart.com.

Our recent shoot involved our favourite topic -- Shopping. We had to style the models as how fashionistas would dress while they are shopping with their girlfriends. We shot in Palladium Mall in the Mac Studio (where we met Koshy), outside and ice cream parlour and inside the Diesel Store. It was one of the most tiring and exhausting shoot, but a lot of fun as well. Oh and we wore this on the day of the shoot.
Here's a scan of the how it looked

Work was hectic but Nusrat made it better. Listening to qawwalis like Sano Ek Pal, Gham Hai Ya Khushi and Biba Sadha was such a perfect fit to the romantic monsoons. We are loving the weather today because it's not raining yet it looks like it's just about to.
Jasleen wore striped shorts with a short jacket and hakoba details dress
As you may already know, Zara is finally here. It started with Delhi and now it's in Mumbai. We were lucky to be invited to the opening of the store and it is safe to say that the store was worth the wait. It's chic, huge, affordable and simply amazing to shop at.
The ground floor is the slightly high-end bit where you will find blazers, dresses, tunics, shoes - everything. The first floor has the cheaper line (skirts for Rs. 690, t-shirts for Rs. 450) , the men and kids section too. Though not a sucker for men's fashion, we must say that they had really cool stuff for guys, the kind we'd want our boyfriends and husbands to own, so we could steal from them time to time.
As for what we bought...
J bought a printed jumpsuit, bright pink jersey flats, a belt and a hairband (that's it :)).
S behaved herself and bought a pair of lovely flap pants in light pink.We will upload pictures as and when we wear our stuff, the constant rain has been such a damper for us.
We also have certain picks in mind from Zara in case you are heading there-- you must see the cute nightsuits, 'lil shorts and t-shirts for Rs. 890 and the vintage little box purse in nude pink and tan for Rs. 990 and skirts with pockets in prints and solid for Rs. 690.
We will be buying a lot of Zara from now on and will keep you posted because from what we have heard, the store will be replenishing its stock every 2 weeks! Yippie! We love you Zara.
We had taken these pictures a while back and thought this would be a good time to pull them out from our fashion archives. Jasleen got bangs at Sonu's favourite salon - The Butterfly Pond. The owner Sylvia is fabulous with hair. We love that she doesn't buy into trends and is so careful with hair unlike many hairstylists who tend to be scissor-happy and just go chop-chop-chop!
Our very own monsoon showers – though they don’t make the best pictures – were a great experience! Since it was pouring we didn’t go to far from work and pretty much shot at the back entrance. The pictures reflect our frame of mind, they are melancholy, full of nostalgia and have a romantic ache, just so many emotions they bring out. What are your monsoon experiences like?
Jasleen wore a red kurta with a scalloped crepe skirt
Kurta and skirt, Fashion Street| bag, Topshop| shoes, Bandra| rubber-strap watch, Adidas| umbrella, Kuala Lumpur| sunglasses, Rayban
Sonu wore a jersey dress with a studded denim shirt
Dress, Hues| denim shirt, Fashion Street| ring, Amarsons| gladiators, United Colors of Benetton | umbrella, Marks & Spencer| duffle bag, Oberoi Shopping Mall
We finally got into this one private estate we have been eyeing for a while. The big iron gates are always locked and we have shot a couple of times in front of it. Today, that gate was open and we pranced in with joy. We found this beautiful, rusted iron staircase and Jasleen posed first.
Sonu on the other hand, managed to upset a tiny beehive and almost got stung in two places! She was rather scared but she put up a brave face and shot never the less (the things we do for you guys :P). We then rushed her to the doctor and all is well now...
